Sims Park in Coonoor has over 1,000 species of trees that’s spread across 30 acres of land area. Though this place might resemble Bangalore’s Lalbagh Garden, in reality Sims Park is 1/8th the size of Lalbagh. Yes, Bangalore’s Lalbagh is spread across 240 acres of land.
Established in 1874, Sims Park is home to a rare species of plants/trees such as Rudraksh, ferns camellia, and acacia. This place is a must visit for nature lovers.
Talkies Tip If you are parking your vehicle too far from Sims Park, do not pay parking fee. The person will insist, but you can refuse (we parked about 100 meters away and we didn’t pay)
The park has a very uneven (uphill and downhill) land area throughout, so be prepared for a breath-gasping walk. Below picture was not taken at an angle, the land area itself is angled at about 35-40 degrees.
Sims Park is also home to large trees, and very dense greenery.

The park is well maintained.
The highlight of Sims Park is its natural lake that’s present at the end of the park. Paid boating service is available.
There is also a kids play area right next to the lake.
